Operational Notes on JLN-2740H Self-Adhesive Kraft Paper Tape for Light Duty Sealing

Running a packaging line often comes down to matching tape construction to box weight and throughput speed. The JLN-2740H fits into our product range as a light duty, non-reinforced self-adhesive option designed specifically for standard corrugated cartons. Unlike water-activated systems that rely on starch and moisture penetration, this model uses a hot melt adhesive that bonds immediately upon contact with the cardboard surface.

The backing consists of 70gsm kraft paper with a total thickness of 0.125mm. We specify this weight because it provides enough puncture resistance for typical e-commerce and retail boxes without adding unnecessary bulk or cost. The hot melt coating is applied at a controlled rate to achieve a peel adhesion of 21N per 25mm. Tensile strength sits at 75N in the machine direction and 90N cross-direction, which aligns well with packages up to roughly 15 kilograms.

From a workflow perspective, the absence of fiberglass reinforcement means the tape tears cleanly by hand or with a standard cutter, reducing blade wear on dispensing equipment. It feeds reliably through both handheld guns and automated case sealers set to 38mm, 48mm, or 76mm core diameters. Operators typically choose this grade when sealing uniform carton sizes at moderate speeds, where tamper-evidence is less critical than consistent application and clean edge finishing.

The adhesive system maintains reliable tack between -5°C and 60°C. In humid or cold warehouse conditions, hot melt formulations like this one avoid the drying delays associated with water-activated tapes. Because the backing is pure kraft paper and the adhesive leaves minimal residue, the sealed box can enter standard recycling streams without tape removal.

We position the JLN-2740H as a direct alternative to standard BOPP tape for facilities prioritizing material consistency and recyclability. It works best for lightweight shipments, internal part transfers, and retail-ready packaging where surface smoothness matters. For heavier loads or high-stress transit routes, moving to our reinforced fiberglass or polyester yarn grades would be the logical next step.
